Hi. My name is Liz Doc, and I'm a second year full time MBA student at Fordham's Gabelli School of Business. I grew up in northern New Jersey, and I did my undergraduate degree in political science and studio art at the University of Notre Dame. After graduating from Notre Dame, I moved back a closer to home, lived in Manhattan for four years, working in the fashion industry, doing strategic management for a small, young contemporary denim brand. After a while in the professional world, I realized that I had a lot more to learn. So I decided to go back to business school to focus on working with data and really just be back in the learning environment so that I could laser focus on my professional development. I actually applied to business school on both the East and the West Coast, but I'm going to tell you a little bit about how I decided on Fordham. I knew Fordham was just a hop and a skip away from where I was already thriving. So my love for Manhattan definitely factored into my decision to apply to the belly. Another reason why I was attracted to this particular program was because the classes are small, our classes around 50 students, which means that professors and administrators alike are really dedicated to your success. They know your face, and before you even get admitted to the school, they know about you and they know your name. That made me feel like I would be a really valued part of the Fordham community. Something else that was really important in my decision was the fact that boredom is a Jesuit institution from going to a Catholic undergraduate university. I really understand what it means to be dedicated to the whole person and also to be committed to doing the business with a purpose on. That's something that is at the core of the belly that I was also extremely drawn to. So how did I get admitted to Fordham? First, I took the G R E, and then I went to visit the campus at Lincoln Center, which is absolutely gorgeous, and I really enjoyed getting to know the admission staff and a couple of current students also worked really hard on all of the components of my application. I used all those different parts in order to provide the most well rounded view of myself that I possibly could. The admission staff at Fordham ended up offering me the Dean scholarship, which I was absolutely honored and elated to accept. It made my decision to go to the school that much easier for him to school. For people who want to experience being part of a tight knit, genuinely diverse and really dedicated community. I've had the privilege of becoming extremely involved in this community over the past year, and I wouldn't have it any other way. My advice to anyone who is a perspective applicant is to put forth your strongest effort. Try to really be yourself and at the end of the day, know that you're going to end up where you are the best fit and for me, I'm really proud to say that that was Gabelli E..
