Hi everybody, my name is Addison jones and I am currently a senior at the University of Tennessee and I just wanted to talk to you a little bit about why I chose the University of Tennessee. So it's actually kind of a funny story because I didn't actually start here. I'm a transfer student, so I spent the first year of my college studies at another university um and I quickly decided that that university was just not a very good fit for me. I started looking at a bunch of different colleges and I found, ut I'm actually from the Knoxville area, which is part of the reason why I didn't want to go here. At first I came and I said, you know what, I'm just going to give this place a tour. I know I'm from here, I think I know everything about it, but I'm gonna tour it and see what it has to offer. So I came and I toured and I began to beat ut with new eyes. Um One of the things that I love most about you t is that our mascot is a one of our mascots is the torch bear and if you don't know the torchbearer, the creed for the torchbearer is one that bear at the torch shadow with himself to give light to others and for me, um that really just means a lot because I really think that the University of Tennessee, but the really big emphasis on volunteering, on helping other people. Um and on service leadership and when I toured the university at that time when I was transferring and I was lost, I came here and I was surrounded by people who I felt really wanted me to feel at home and really wanted me to feel welcome. Um, my biggest piece of the flights for anybody at any time in their education career is to always remember that there is so much out there. If you're not happy where you are, go and explore somewhere else because there's so much out there that is available for you and maybe you'll end up in your perfect school. Like I did just a little bit later than some other people.
