While every dorm comes with a bed, dresser, desk, and chair, it is up to the residents to decide how they want to design their dorms! Students often bring a mini fridge, a microwave, and extra storage containers to their rooms when they move in. However, several take the opportunity to show their personality through string lights, artwork, unique study spaces, and even holiday decorations.
The dorms here at St Olaf are actually really nice, albeit a bit old. The 3rd and 4th floors of Melby Hall are the only technically "quiet" floors, but the entire hall has a reputation as a "quiet dorm" so its often easier to get harder-to-come-by rooms, like a triple, here! The only downside is a relative lack of social life and activity in the dorm. We also do have free washing and drying machines (and plenty of them).

In this video, I touch on the main residential quads on Miami University's campus. While there aren't many, there are also various residential buildings spread throughout Western campus. Typically, these buildings are newer and nicer. A large portion of Miami students also opt to live in off campus apartments and houses. However, this is not an option for freshmen or sophomores. Freshmen also CANNOT have cars on Campus.
Whether you clicked on this video to learn more about Macalester or just to hear how the name is actually pronounced, WELCOME! I'm Olivia, your tour guide here at Mac. I'm an undeclared major but leaning towards Environmental Studies and Theatre. I'm a first-year student, but since Mac is a small school it's really easy to get to know it and make your home immediately. My glasses broke halfway through filming, so there may be a few stray videos where I'm without them, but luckily I was able to get them fixed (one advantage of our urban location - there are eye doctors everywhere!). I'm so glad to have you here, and I hope you enjoy learning about the Macalester experience!
This is a luxurious dorm room. Don't get your hopes too high, but nice to know it's an option!
We have an amazing soccer and basketball team here at SLU. I am a huge Billiken fan myself. The best part about being a student is that attending any game for any sport is totally free.

I vlogged my first day of spring semester! You'll see the Communication Arts and Sciences Building where most of my classes are, as well as how I took the bus to get to Snyder Phillips Cafeteria. Plus, I'll introduce you to two of my friends: Don and Mike!
Catlett Residence Hall is the newest living addition on campus. Catlett includes a dining hall, midnight snack shack, and study rooms along with lounges. Each lounge has a beautiful view of the Iowa River. The residents who live here definitely say its CatLIT!

Although it may not be the newest, our dorm room is a perfect example of a standard double at Miami University. Each dorm room comes with a fridge, beds, dressers, desks, office chairs, and a closet/cubby. Furniture cannot be added nor removed from your dorm, and there might be more rules about your walls than you think!

Thinking about living in East Neighborhood? Then, this is the video for you! I talk about all the pros and cons including living learning communities, cafeterias, bathrooms and distance from classes.
My friend Stephanie shows you around her and her roommate Sally's room in the Griesedieck Complex. This building, also called Gries, is 16 floors high, has community bathrooms, and each floor alternates between boys and girls. There are only two elevators and it can take a bit of time to get all the way to the top. Some people give Gries a bad rap; however, I think that these are the closest floors on campus and the community bathrooms are not as big of a deal as most people think! It is the tallest building on campus as well!
AnnMarie visits her friend, Masyn, that lives in a dorm called Carr. Carr is a newer dorm to campus and is suit style. Suit styles are mostly available as 2 doubles dorm rooms with a connecting bathroom although some rooms are singles or triples. At Ohio University there is also traditional communal bathroom style dorm rooms and also mod style dorm rooms. Mod style dorms are shared living rooms amongst 10-12 people with 5-6 people sharing one bathroom
This is my dorm room! I live in a suite style which means you would have one roommate and share a bathroom with your two suite mates. Then there is also community style which means you just have your roommate and you share a large bathroom with your entire hall and that gets cleaned on the daily. When signing up for housing they will inform you on which dorms have which style.
