"Two theses? You're crazy!" + the open curriculum
The following is an computer-generated summary of the video transcript.
So I'm back outside my door because it was really loud by the Greenway dorms since there were some lawn mowers and also the place going on and I didn't want, like, crazy cry severe in this video. I actually think it might still be kind of love because of the construction of the science center, but we'll have to make do, Um, I'm just going to say that, uh, I actually spent a bit of time. I'm doing my research over the summer with you, where they're usually some chairs and tables. Several readings on the text that we were going to study. Concepts were going to study outside for a couple weeks. We were, you know, wrestling with any computer, ever serve eating boards at that point, and I wanted to talk a little bit more Also, about the thesis process. Writing PC is at least in the sciences or math to spend the summer starting the project. I actually didn't have a French topic until some temper, but what I really do love about verses just the academic freedom for the science species. Usually you do end up on a topic that is that of your professor's research interests. I was really allowed to do whatever I wanted. I ended up writing a creative thesis that was almost memoir style about my experiences of linguistic displacement, and I also would engage with thes Frank's French text. So it was still very conceptual and theoretical, even though I was talking about my own experiences and this freedom is really just the heart of the Amur. Second, I make experience because we are on it open curriculum. So that means there are no required courses outside of your major requirements. I had nine required courses because I came in with a couple classes already. We take four courses semester, so over four years we have thirty two slots. That meant that outside of my seventeen total required courses, I could take whatever I wanted. So I've tried things like E con calm, Cy. I have also tried things like stats. There's a button on my phone because that sounds pretty boring because they're just more science is they've also tried things like like, uh, in Russia and late, but basically you don't have to keep yourself with in one field. What's great about Amber says that you can focus and you can, you know, do these deep research projects like feces, but you can also take the time to explore other fields on, so I think that's really one of the biggest parts of this school.
