My name is Samantha Lackey, and I'm 33 years old. Um, my tribal town is took Obuchi and my clan is the Golgi, which is the raccoon clan. Um, I currently live in a little neighborhood called Pleasant Valley, and it is in between Henrietta and all. Um, so what led me to the college of the Moscow V nation? Um, is that I have been a waitress for about three years on. I started to feel in my heart that there was something more for me out there, and it had always been my dream to get my education. Whenever I was 19 years old, I had done a year in college. Um, e hit some bumps in the road, so I wasn't able Thio get my degree at that time. Um you know, like I said, I felt like there was something tugging inside of me that, you know, I needed to start working on something different. So I went to admissions and I found out that I would be able to get my degree through a grant that the tribe has a scholarship. You know, I I decided to go ahead and take the plunge. I worked part time while I was also a full time student on, and I had a family at home. He made me feel like, you know, that there wasn't anything that I couldn't do. I know that if the Lord is for me, who could be against me. So like I said, I went ahead and took the plunge, and it's been the greatest decision that I ever made. Traditionally, I didn't hardly even get to grow up at all in my culture. You know, I really saw this as a great opportunity for me to learn about who I am because I'm half Muscogee Creek and you know, I didn't get to grow up learning those things about my culture. To me, this was this was a god sand, and I would say to anybody that is nervous, young or, you know, even in your thirties or however old you are to go ahead and take the plunge, and it will be the best decision that you ever made.
