Hi. My name is Amanda Bush, and I'm currently enrolled in the M s accounting program at Fordham University's Graduate School of Business. I'm from New Jersey, and I'm currently living there taking my classes virtually for the semester. Fordham's transition to this weird virtual world. Um, while I do miss in person class, Of course, I think Fordham has done a fantastic job adapting to this new type of learning. I think the professors have really learned what works for them, what works for the students and put the time in to ensure that all their students are getting the most out of their classes. So Zoom has been the primary way that my professors will host their classes. I have had all live classes, which I think is great because it really makes it seem like a normal class that you'd be going to and attending and showing up to in person. I had one professor that would record some lectures for us to watch on her own before class, but would still host that live class each week to go over the material. For the most part, each professor requires you to have your cameras on, which really ensures that you're engaged and you're paying attention and you can get the most out of this to our graduate class. I had one professor, one of my favorite professors, who told us he paid the price of a small car to invest in this light board for virtual learning that he would use on our zoom classes. It was a background that he was able to write on and show up in front of. So it really was as if we were in front of a smart corridor whiteboard in class. I think that just goes to show how invested foreign professors are in their students and how much they want to make this virtual situation work for their students and ensure that it's not prohibiting anyone from getting the most out of their studies. I think one thing I've learned from doing this remote learning for a little while now is that I still need that peer to peer contact that's always been important to me. So it's been really helpful to ensure that I'm still engaging with other students in my program, and a lot of my professors will help facilitate that by taking advantage of breakout rooms and letting us break out to work on different assignments or assign team projects where then we need to meet outside of class to work on these projects. We can also just socialize about our other work or other things going on in our life, and it's not as isolating. So that's one little tidbit of advice that I've picked up from remote learning. It's also a little bit on your own that you wanna make sure that you're still reaching out to other students and meeting students and keeping those connections. So I think there are certainly challenges to remote learning. I think Fordham has put in place the tools you need to be able to overcome those challenges, and the professors are super accessible via zoom or email, and they're willing to help you in any way that you need. I think it comes down to figuring out what works for you, making sure that you're staying organized and sticking to a schedule and really staying on top of your studies, and if you're able to do that form is going to allow you to succeed in their classes.
