Tour Guide
The following is an computer-generated summary of the video transcript.
I'm a junior at Millersville University and right now I'm outside Steyr Hall, which is the home of the education majors. I'm a little biased because I'm an education major here at Millersville University and I wanted to give you guys a quick tour inside the building to show you what you're going to be heading into. Yes, it is summer right now, but we're still going to facilitate a full day for a student. So there was a class going on while I was recording and I didn't want to be that rude person, so sorry for the voice over. This is the multipurpose room on the first floor, A couple of different clubs meet here weekly to discuss happenings in the early childhood campus. So that would include eco early childhood organization, as well as study buddies, which I'm a part of study buddies meets Mondays and Tuesdays and we help out different families in the community through tutoring. We're going to head up to the next floor. Well technically half floor, but we'll get into that later. So there are a couple different things on this floor. First off, there is a student lounge for students to go and hang out in between classes and there's usually a nice coffee bar right here where students can grab some free coffee in between classes to charge up. Then down this hallway are all of the offices for the professors. Fun fact, this actually used to be a residence hall. If I was a professor who I would definitely sneak a bed in there. Yeah, So you can go down this hallway to find your professor. If you have any questions, they always have at least five office hours per week. They're literally sitting at their desk begging both student to show up. They are there to help you with any questions that you may have. You will also be heading down at this hallway to meet your advisor. So you can ask them any questions about classes that you should take in the following semesters or any plans that you might have during the summer for internships. Let's head up to the technical second floor. We're right now in the common area right outside of the classrooms. Students can come here and grab a chair so they can work on some homework. I personally had two classes my spring semester I had said 101 at eight a.m. And then I had urged 1 10 at 11 a.m. For my hour and a half or so. In between classes, I would come to this, see turn on my computer, finish some homework assignment for Earth 1 10 or any other classes and then if I had time remaining, I would watch an episode of Zoey's extraordinary playlist. If you're gonna watch tv or netflix or hulu or whatever subscription you love, make sure to have an ear button right. Once I got to watch and make sure that Zoe is doing okay with their powers. Thank goodness I made and granted there's no one here because it's summer, but hey, welcome to a classroom and say your hall. I actually had to spend one on one in this classroom at eight a.m. All of the professors are really great and really knowledgeable. Like I mentioned earlier in the video, they have five office hours per week, bare minimum. All of our professors are also really knowledgeable in the content area. Most of the professors in the education department actually taught in an education setting, whether the elementary, middle or high school or even a preschool beforehand. So they actually know what they're talking about. It's not like they woke up what they decide, Hey, I'm going to tell old Children how to teach young Children, 98% of our professors have the highest degree available for their course of study. The other 2% are actually on their way there right now. So you will never be taught by the T. A. Who just got out of college. You're getting the best of your education here at miller. Make sure when you come to class that you have your textbooks, that they're required a notebook or in my case, a laptop and then be prepared to listen to the wonderful teachers because hey, you're planning on becoming a teacher someday. You will because education, in my opinion is the best.
