Samford students enjoy going to concerts, football games, eating brunch at aesthetically pleasing spots, dancing on the quad when an old band comes out with a new song :) and many other experiences that are appropriate at the college age!

A week in the life of a chemistry major, freshman, and Sorority member can be full. However, with a planner and thought out class schedule, it is possible! I made my classes in the morning as much as possible so that I can do homework in the afternoon before my obligations at night. I learned this from a spread out schedule last semester-but this depends on if you are a morning person or not! I usually go to small group on Monday and Wednesday night-I enjoy plugging into groups with other students my age! I also play intramural basketball on Thursday nights and have various Tri Delta functions throughout the week and chapter on Sunday night.

Russell is one of the academic buildings on campus, this was taken right after our shared Sociology class. Makenzie shares her love for people and explains what academics are like at Samford. She is an RA and sophomore here at Samford, and a Human development major from Florida! She loves the community at Samford, but wishes we could have a few more bulldog bucks-which will be offered next year!

The education building has been a big resource for me personally, the lobby is very homey and comfortable to study in. And the great news is- you don't have to be an education major to enjoy it! There are books for teachers to use while preparing lessons and plenty of sitting space. DBH has one of the most used auditoriums on campus, as it is used for interest meetings. Interest meetings are when big events, such as step sing or rush, are coming up to explain what all being apart of that event entails.

The meal plan at Samford includes 130 bulldog bucks a semester but will include more starting next semester. For freshmen the caf swipes are unlimited, meaning you can go as many times as you would like throughout the day and week. For sophomores and upperclassmen, there are 12 and 7 meal swipes per week options. This is applicable to the caf, as well as to freshens. Freshens is on campus dining option located in the college of health and sciences.

A typical weekday will consist of classes and homework of course- but it is not unusual for students to run to target, deal with parking, and go to an event at night as well. We had a watch party for the finale of the bachelor at Tri Delta in our chapter room, I went to target for some groceries, thankfully its only two minutes away, and I was able to find princess parking! This just means my spot was close to Vail, my dorm.

Thank you for joining me as I take you around Samford and share my Samford story! I hope you consider it, but everyone fits in at their place best- so go wherever feels like home! I would suggest focusing on your GPA and contacts with Samford (Admissions,Friends, etc.) in the application process. Samford is good about considering the four years of high school equally, if not higher, importance than ACTs and SATs. So definitely study and take those, but don’t stress! I would advise to give your college a good semester to get through friend changes and confusions about your major- you will settle in where you are supposed to be. With that being said- transferring is also completely ok! Best wishes for you as you create your own path!!

Meet Jules, also known as Juliana, from Nashville, Tennesee! She is also a freshman here at Samford and an ECSE major, which is a unique elementary education program here within our school of Education. With this major one is certified to teach special needs, pre-K through 6th grade, and early childhood education, and full certification with student teaching Junior and Senior year by graduation. Academic life here at Samford is also discussed, it is important to go to classes, take good notes, and USE office hours. If you do this it is very likely you will succeed at Samford. Office hours would probably be one of my biggest pieces of advice because we have some of the best professors nationally and they have always been welcoming a huge help with all my and Jules classes.

Ben Brown is located between our dining hall/student center and the library; which makes it a good and popular hangout spot. On this we day we were doing what is called "tabling." Tabling is when an organization, such as Tri Delta, sets up a table on ben brown to sell goods, raise awareness, and sign-ups for the organizations at the beginning of the semesters. CHS is our College of Health and Sciences it is where nursing majors will spend much of their time and also where everyone takes concepts, our physical education class. CHS was previously the headquarters for Southern Living magazine and as such is beautifully laid as you will see.

My decision to come to Samford was not a simple one! I started with some schools closer to home (North Carolina), but those ended up not working out. So I kept looking at different options and my dad told me about Samford. He knew about it from working with Samford Alum. After checking it online and visiting Samford, I fell in love! So I ended up applying, getting in, and coming to Samford after settling some financials. I was able to get merit scholarship, as well as a scholarship for my major. This just confirmed that I had picked the right place. The reasons I was drawn to Samford was how beautiful it was, but more importantly, the community that is inevitable felt at Samford. The alumni are very active, as well as I was reached out to by many faculty members and through letters during my decision-making time. I knew I was wanted at Samford and not just a number, and so I wanted Samford University back!

Faq and advice for coming to samford!

Samford is a medium-sized college but is still D1 at 5000 undergrad and 1-mile long campus. I would definitely say Samford is definitely people and community-based but also has a very involved student body. There are a lot of events specific to Samford that helps students get involved, such as step sing, connections, and lighting of the way. Students need to study and do their work, but Samford is good about involving and balancing academics and social life. The popular majors are nursing, ECSE, pre-pharm, and business.
