My Experience Coming to UVM from Over 2,000 Miles Away

I'm a senior here at the University of Vermont in the College of Arts and Sciences, where I'm majoring in political science and I have miners, anthropology and global studies. Today, I'm gonna talk to you a little bit about what it's like to go to UVM from the other side of the country. When I first came to UVM, I was really nervous about my transition. It has been the best experience and something that I really hope to share with all of you, especially those of you coming from the West Coast, cause I know there's a lot of fears about, oh, East Coast vs West Coast. What those who schools and environments or Mike, I think one thing that made my transition the easiest was that my hometown is very outdoorsy or a mountain town, and so is Burlington. So I was able to really connect with people who had similar interests values when it came to the outdoors, as well as people who wanted to go for hikes and go explore everything that Vermont had to offer on Guy, you know, it wasn't for that. I really wouldn't be ableto have made some of the connections and experience some of the amazing things that made me feel so at home. Through my involvement in the UPM dance team, I really was able to connect with the greater Burlington community and not something I'm really grateful for. Um, you know, it really made me feel like I had a home in Vermont that I was a part of something much bigger, but I actually was. That is something I'm forever grateful for, getting so the UPM fans and getting to be a part of so many amazing experiences, just championship games, playoffs. I really was ableto realize so much more than one person know wherever you're coming from, you have a home here, UVM and Paramount Times. One of the last things outside of the dance team and getting involved in exploring Burlington and UPM that really help with my transition was very engaging in my residential learning. For two years, I lived in sustainability house on our athletic campus and getting involved in the program and going to the farm on the hikes. Getting so the students that lived around me was the best way to get involved and meet other people, and I realized right away that the other kids with in my residential learning But I had a lot in common and a lot of them are still my best friends to this day. I am filming this video for my home here in Wyoming, but I really hope you all enjoyed learning a little bit about what it's like to come to the M from far away, and I hope to see you on campus the next year.
