Applicant must submit network or cable television film or video (concerned with American history) on an half inch video cassette. Only video programs released January 1 through December 31 are eligible.

Prize is given for the best book written by a historian connected with federal, state, or municipal government, in the areas of foreign policy, military affairs broadly construed, the historical activities of the federal government, or biography in one of the above areas.

Applicant must be a member of the American Historical Association. Preference will be given to those with specific research needs, such as the completion of a project or completion of a discrete segment thereof. Preference will be given to advanced doctoral students, non-tenured faculty, and unaffiliated scholars.

Applicant must be a member of the OAH who is working toward the completion of a dissertation or first book. Stipend is for travel and lodging expenses.

Award is for dissertation study dealing with aspects of American history that extend beyond U.S. borders. Selection is based upon project description and two letters of recommendation.

Applicant must demonstrate community leadership and have met the award criteria established by the Alumni Association's Scholarship Committee.
