Applicants must be Minnesota residents who have been admitted to a full-time program in an approved Minnesota college or university. Applicants must have demonstrated achievement in one of the following subjects: English or creative writing, fine arts, foreign language, math, science or social science.

Applicants must have a GPA of at least 2.75 and be at least sophomores. Students must also be undergraduates seeking a degree in engineering, computer science or any of the pure sciences. Preference is first given to Tekes at Missouri University of Science and Technology.

Nominees must be female college undergraduates and either be U.S. citizens or have a school address in the U.S. Selection is based on performance in advanced mathematics courses and special programs, interest in mathematics, ability to conduct independent work and performance in mathematical competitions at the local or national level.
