Applicants must be a high school senior or college undergraduate and have competed in a U.S. Figure Skating qualifying competition. Synchronized skating is not eligible. Selection is based on academic success, honors, demonstrated leadership in extracurricular activities, work experience, goals and the essay.

Award is given to the skater with the highest program components score at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships in the novice ladies and novice men's event.

The award is presented to the junior competitor at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships with the highest combined total of short program and free skate program component marks.

The award is presented to the senior ladies champion and senior men's champion at the U.S. Collegiate Figure Skating Championships.

Applicant must be a graduating senior of Eastmont High School who has been accepted at an accredited educational program in the United States. Applicant must have participated in a varsity sport for a minimum of two years. Minimum GPA between 2.8 and 3.5, personal statement, and letters of recommendation required.

Applicant must be a high school senior varsity athlete who has attended Duluth Central High School for a minimum of two years. Minimum 2.5 GPA required.
