Applicant must rank in the top half of class and have a minimum combined SAT score of 1050.

Applicant must have a minimum cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 or better and be in the upper half of their graduating class. Applicant must provide 5-10 pages of poetry or prose.

Freshman applicant must submit a creative writing or critical essay and letter of recommendation from a senior English teacher. Three awards are made each year, one each to a freshman, sophomore, and junior.

Applicant must be a senior who has a minimum 3.0 GPA and who has demonstrated the finest qualities of leadership through participation in campus organizations and has rendered service of significant benefit to the campus community.

Applicant must be a junior student in the humanities and creative arts who has an excellent academic record and who has shown evidence of artistic or literary ability or has demonstrated leadership in the academic major.

Selection is based upon academic ability, leadership, and service involvement.

Applicant must demonstrate potential for developing as a writer and student of literature and must be in the top two-fifths of class.

Applicant must have a minimum 3.3 GPA and a minimum combined SAT score of 1530 with a minimum critical reading score of 550 (composite ACT score of 23). Selection is based upon essay submission, interview with Department Chair, and letter of recommendation from a high school English teacher.

Applicant must be enrolled in a four-year college or university program in the United States with an interest in the legal or criminal justice fields. Applicant must be actively pursuing a degree in one of the following areas of study: communications, criminal justice, English, history, journalism, political science, or pre-law studies....

Selection is based upon an examination of various aspects of high school English.

Applicant must be in financial need and have the potential of being an outstanding educator.

Applicant must be majoring in English. Selection is based upon academic achievement and financial aid. FAFSA is required.
