Applicants must be high school seniors who are planning to major in education in college or current undergraduates who are majoring in education. They must have a connection to Phi Delta Kappa (PDK) or Educators Rising. Selection is based on the overall strength of the application.

Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0, demonstrate academic promise and demonstrate financial need. Preference is given to students of Mexican descent. Awards may be used for tuition, required fees or room and board.
