Applicant must have the highest GPA based on 30 credit hours taken at Lees-McRae College and be a rising junior. Applicant must be receiving his or her teacher certification through Lees-McRae College.

Applicant must be from the Southern Appalachian region and demonstrate dire need for financial aid. Applicant must not be able to attend college without a scholarship.

Applicant must be a resident of East Tennessee.

Applicant must be in need of financial aid and preference is given to an applicant who is an incoming freshman. Priority is given, but not limited, to resident of Gaston County, NC.

Applicant must display leadership abilities or talent in scholarship, sports, campus government or other areas.

Applicant must have academic potential that may not be reflected in his or her academic record.

Applicant must be a first-generation student from the Southern Appalachian region who demonstrates financial need. Applicant must show promise for success in college.
