Applicant must rank in top half of class and have a minimum combined SAT I score of 1000 (composite ACT score of 21).

Applicant must have a minimum 3.5 GPA and 12 transferable credit hours.

Applicant must have a minimum 3.25 GPA and 12 transferable credit hours.

Applicant must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and 12 transferable credit hours.

Applicant must be a state or Baptist All-State Band and Choir member with a major or minor in music.

Applicant must have their church donate a scholarship in order to receive a match from the university. University will match up to $500 per semester on a student's behalf from their local church.

Applicant must graduate from a Brown County high school and be enrolled full-time.

Applicant must present a license, certification of ordination, or letter of certification from a Southern Baptist Church and maintain full-time enrollment.

Applicant must be the unmarried child of a current or former Southern Baptist minister and enroll in at least 12 credit hours.

Applicant must be a high school senior or college underclassman who is a current, active member of the National Junior Red Angus Association.

Applicant must submit biographical data, a general statement of the benefit and uses of the proposed research, purpose of funds, and a complete budget. Research should focus on the history of the East Texas region.

Applicant must be nominated by the Lock Endowment Committee and demonstrate excellence in the study of history/social studies, or elementary education at an East Texas college or university.

Award is for the best book on people, places, or things in East Teas. Nomination may be made by the author or the publisher. Writing samples are required.
