Applicant must be Korean-American and be enrolled as a full time student majoring in asian studies or journalism. Selection is based upon financial need, academic achievement, extracurricular activities, and community service.

Applicant must have an amateur radio license. Preference is given to residents of ARRL Midwest Division (Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska) and to children of deceased radio amateurs.

Applicant must be attending a school in the New York City metropolitan area and show interest in becoming a business journalist.

Applicant must aspire to be a foreign correspondent at some point in their career. Foundation also funds reporting fellowships at foreign bureaus of major news organizations and English-language foreign newspapers.

Applicant must be a student from New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, or Pennsylvania majoring or (for high school seniors) declaring a major in a communications-related field with a minimum GPA of 3.2. Selection is based upon academic excellence and need and involvement in the field of communications.
