Applicant must qualify for a Ligon scholarship and must have written verification of being valedictorian from the school principal or guidance counselor.

Applicant must be an active member of the United Methodist Church and must be referred by applicable clergy.

Applicant must have been elected as Girls State Governor of Alabama and must reside on-campus.

Applicant must be a full-time day student who is either active duty military personnel, dependent of active duty and retired U.S. military personnel, or is the surviving spouse or dependent of any U.S. military member while on active duty. Applicant must submit verification of this information.

Applicant must demonstrate financial need and may not be receiving certain other scholarships.
