Selection is based upon excellence in high school and the promise of contribution to the extracurricular life of the school.

Applicant must be a high-ranking student of Filipino descent.

Applicant must demonstrate a serious interest in developing as a writer and must choose the Writing Minor program or be an active participant in the school newspaper.

Awarded to applicant conducting research with a faculty member in the applicants major or in an approved internship in public or not-for-profit service.
