1963 Ph.D. Graduate Shares Experience

NDSU recognizes alumnus Frank "Ed" LeGrand, a retired Oklahoma State University professor and the only living doctoral graduate from the 1963 graduating class. 
 
As the first in his family to attend college, LeGrand earned a Bachelor of Science degree in agronomy from Oklahoma State University in 1959. He was awarded a U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare National Defense Education Fellowship to pursue a degree in plant sciences and earned the first doctorate in agronomy from NDSU.
 
LeGrand lives in Stillwater, Okla., where he farms and ranches 1,000 acres. He and his wife of 63 years, Alberta, have five children and three grandchildren.
