Here, I show you some of my most-frequented spots on campus, including the Davis Center (Student center), the Green, and more!
The following is an computer-generated summary of the video transcript.
The green right in front of our Davis Center or our Students center. You get to see a lot of friends out here and really shows how everybody here really enjoys being outside. So here we are in the How Library, one of our three libraries on campus, the other two being are building special collection, library and data medical library, both of which undergrads have access to in this library. Um, students use Catto, Rub the nose, get a little good luck before classes Let's head on out to our next campus hot spot Our next campus hot spot You be on Davis Center, our student center. This fourth floor building has everything in it that you can imagine as the hub of student life. We have plenty of dining options because, you know, that's what all students were talking about. We also have different things that you can participate in in the Davis Center. So we do have our diversity and equity Unity Lounge here. Most of our club offices air here with Student Government Association. Also located here is the Career Center last on the bottom floor, we have some places to blow off steam with pool tables, foosball tables. It's definitely a place where students come and hang out during the day. Our next campus hot spot, Pre Diversity and Equity Unity Lab, which I'm standing right here in front of on campus. Those are the Mosaic Center for Students of Color, Be Women and Gender Equality Center, the prison center for the LGBT Q Plus community and the Interfaith Center. Each of these centers provide support community and staff mentors. For our students here diversity is not just a part of those centers. About all students from each college at UVM are required to take thes centers. They do put on different events for both the greater UVM community as well as your students identifying with that specific community. So here we are and you being a career center, a great resource for students on campus within four years here. It is a lifelong resource provided Thio all you be on students. Some of the great things offered through the Career Center are things like marketing workshops, interest group mock interviews, actually, one of the cool things about the mock interviews that really shows how successful this career center is. My friend Jason was home over winter break and got offered from Amazon for an interview, but the interview was going to take place in 2 to 3 days, so he called the UVM career Center and was able to set up a mock interview within 24 hours. Students thio past alumni to different internships, mentoring, shadowing programs. They coordinate lots of different here affairs, which any underclassmen can attend on. The Career center is really fantastic resource, and as I said, it is life form. I actually talked to them when I came here about how I kind of want to take a year off after college. So where's the next campus hot spot? It's right here in Athens. One other coping highway about this building is that the windows are programmed to open and close automatically according to the temperature, so they keep the temperature just right for all of the plants in here. I didn't really discover this until I joined an environmental club and got to witness the relaxing feeling of being in here. Hockey and basketball are huge sports here at U B N and our community definitely gets rowdy for them. That was super important for me as I really wanted a school with a lot of school spirit, and I've definitely found that here at U B M. One of the best part about hockey games is that one of the local pizza places comes, chooses a row randomly and passes out of pizza box to that row. Another great part is our mascot Rally cat right here. While we're here in the gym, I'll discuss a few other things that happened here. We also had clubs, sports and the fitness center and intramural sports, one of which, being a battleship, which is a really cool sport where you are in a canoe in the pool, trying to dump buckets of water into your opponent's canoe in order to sink their battleship. So where are we right now? Well, you're in front of the Fleming Museum right here on UVM campus. Students here can work as curator is or create exhibits. Students also come here on field trips with professors or they can come on their own time to do research. The staff here are amazing, and you're able to talk to them about even getting out some objects, right? That might be in the archives right now, Thio, help you out on a project or some research that you're doing. UVM has so many cool places on its campus, but unfortunately I can't fit them all into a video way. It's just something that you get to explore as a student. I chose to come here and get Thio experience and see all of these things for myself.
