Hey, guys, I'm back. I'm here with one of my sorority sisters, and she's gonna talk to you a little bit about her experience of pepper dine. Hi, I'm Sophie. I am currently a freshman at Pepper Dine, and I'm double majoring in their national studies and political science. And I'm going to talk to you about white school and what I like about it. I chose the school because I knew I wanted to grow spiritually in college. So that's been a huge bonus, Pepper and has facilitated a fire and environment that cultivates here spiritually. Curiosity your relationship with God, I'm growing a lot. Even just within the first semester and a half, Uh, student body at the school is really like lean back. Chill. Everybody's really nice. What you would think is, like, never happens on a college campus. Everybody so stressed out. But no matter how stressed out your friends are, they're always gonna be there for you. Your professor's care about you. They always ask you how you doing. Costs are small enough to wear. Your professors will be able to get to know you on What I love about you is this, uh that's one of the reasons why I chose it. And there are also many opportunities for idiot involved on campus with campus ministry clubs, sororities Go Rush is a fun and just, you know, song fast. There's so many activities that you could do and get involved, and also that helps you narrow down what you might want to do. What you get. You just mentioned song fast. Can you explain what that is? Some fest is a really fun intensive two and a half seeing and where groups get together. And you could do with your sorority I'm doing with my sorority. But you know people from outside of Greek life will get together in groups and perform musical routines. There's a theme every year, and each group chooses specific theme. They keep it secret, so I can't tell you what it is. But we perform over the course of a week, and it's so much fun. Her guys we're about to share with you the secret peppered on nightlife. What's good. I'm sorry, but actually so right now it is eight. Forty five on a Friday night. This is what we're doing pretty with pepper tons of dry campus, which means they're not going to have one around on Friday night. You're not gonna, like, walk to a frat house and have their beer party doesn't exist. There aren't a frat houses. There are no sorority houses. There aren't any on campus parties because a dry campus, which means there is no alcohol or any drugs allowed on peppered on property. Now that said, if that's like really your thing, you could find stuff off campus and like we're close to L. A. You can find whatever you want in L. A. But none of it's going to be here. And most of the people who go to Pepper Dine prefer to do other things on their Friday nights, like watching Netflix and do face masks. Let's see. So I have friends. Just give you guys a run down on, like what people do on Friday. So we're here. Um, I have a friend who's in Santa Monica getting dinner. Have another friend who is in Calabasas, which is It's like thirty minutes, the other direction from Santa Monica. Seeing a movie that's fun. Um, there's a few people who are together in a different suite watching a movie. What do your friends doing tonight? Heck, I know there's one guy that's traveled with the volleyball team. Me and my roommate is performed at the coffeehouse event that they had going on tonight. And so our friends were there watching with us. And, uh, now they're back. Chilling in the dorm room just kind of hanging out. That's where a lot of the guys tend to hang out. We just showing the suites in the dorms and and play throwback video games and and, you know, just chill. Have a good time. Do you know anyone who's at a party right now? Not that I know. I mean, I'm I'm sure that there are some people, but I None of my first, Not a big thing. Not really. That's not to say that it's completely horrible. If that's your thing, that's great. It's not Pepper, not pepper. That's all we do things here, like face masks and movies. Hi, guys. I'm just gonna give you a rundown of some basic pepper dine facts give you the rundown, give you the basics. So Pepperdine is a small school. It's a little bit under four thousand undergraduate students here at Seaver College. All of the undergraduates are at one college called Seaver. I know a lot of schools have multiple. We have the one andan. There were also some grad schools, but separate different video to worry about. The later all the undergrads are here. Less than four thousand students. The weather is absolutely beautiful. While I'm filming this, it is February and here I am sitting outside. It's about sixty five seventy degrees beautiful and sunny. Conserve Whenever you want, you can see the ocean behind me. Amazing. I honestly live in paradise and I love it. Uh, let's see what else. So our gender ratio is about sixty forty, female male. It's kind of a joke on campus, because there's always just more girls anywhere you go. But I've never had an issue with that. I think it's fun. And honestly, it's not too noticeable Greek life here on campus. We do have some sororities. And for some fraternities. It's about thirty percent of girls participate in Greek life, and twenty five percent of boys participate. So I love Greek life. I'm in a sorority. It's great for me. But you also do not have to at all. And all my friends who are not involved still have a really fulfilling time here. There's no demand to be in it, and there's no demand to not be in it. You can totally choose. Either way totally works for you. Um, there's clubs of all different varieties. You, Khun, do pretty much anything you want. I'm in Surf Club. We go surfing, sometimes mostly in a club called Veritas Club, where we just explore like the hard questions of life. It's really fun. There's something for everyone here, and it's a really amazing Hey, guys. So I have to wait a few minutes for the washing machine to be free. So take these few minutes to tell you guys about housing here. So all the freshman live on campus and all the sophomores who don't go abroad are also on campus. Freshman all live in there called houses together. So I live in Debelle house. There's fifty to sixty people that live here and it's single sex. So debelle houses all girls. And then right next to us is Miller house, which is all boys. So it alternates. Boy, girl, boy, girl In the dorms, they're divided up into sweet. So within the bell house, there are six sweets I live in Be sweet. Its A B C D e F suite. Yeah, and then within that, there's four different bedrooms that our doubles or triples, depending on what you want with that on. So I have a roommate. My name's Cassidy. You guys will meet her and and then I also have six suitemates, and we all live together. So in this sweet, there's the four bedrooms and then you share a common room in a bathroom and then as a house we all share a common space with the lobby and me share laundry facilities. Hey, guys. I'm here with you in the main quad, So it's actually called the Plaza, not the quad. I messed up. We got these awesome plaza classrooms that over here, that's Elkins where the major lecture hall classrooms happened. Okay, we got Carmen Got shot. She isa riel tour guide to money fast for us. I do. I'm so ready and was actually at the opening ceremony of property in campus here in Malibu. That is so cool. Thank you. Shy United States right there. Thank you. All right, All right. Over here. That's our found. It's usually on, but California's in a drought, so we can't turn it on. All right. That's a sandbar and has a job, but juice in it. Also, it has all of our mailboxes and everything. I'll take you guys in there in a little bit. Then that is the T a C. Thornton Administration center. And it has just like offices and stuff in it. We don't go that often, but the calf is beneath it. And look over there. You got Courtney. She's one of my sorority sisters. All right, you guys, I'm standing up here on the top of the hill by dorm. Ro to show you guys and talk to you guys all about sports here, Pepper night. So over here we have our big track with our soccer field. Are women's soccer team is very good. I go to those games sometimes over here, we got our baseball field. You can see our team warming up and over there in the distance you can see our pool and our Jim gonna be honest of you. Most people don't really use the gym, because if you had the option of running inside on a treadmill or running out here on this track that overlooks the Pacific Ocean urine, choose the track. Uh, sports and athletics covered. I are really good. We're Division one. We play in the West Coast conference If you really like sports, but you're like, Hey, I'm not a D one athlete. We also have intramurals and clubs sports. All right. You guys find the time for the room, too, or I'm gonna take you in here. So first of all, I want to say that what suits a pepper nine? Great idea. Go surfing all year round. So go into the room, Cass and I have these little hooks up where we keep our keys, little whiteboard. And then here we go. So every room comes with two bookshelves, one for each two beds, two desks and two dressers. You can see Kasi's under her bed there. There's so much bass in here, you have the option of rent one of these microwave freezer Freij combos. And we had a lot of space to work with and you're allowed to have these cute little lights is under their battery operated. That's the key. So I haven't everywhere. There's a lot of space in here, guys. It's not like a normal dorm room where your cramped our closets are. Actually, gigantic. There's no way you won't have enough space in here. I have my whole shoe rack. So Barr and there's two extra shells at the top. Honestly, guys, I space for everything I could ever need. There's no problem here it all. I love living at the ground. Hey, guys, I'm here with my sweet make Carmen. Alright, So Pepper nine is a Christian school, as many of you know, So today we're going to talk to you about convocation of what that means. I'm basically while you're here every semester you have to get fourteen complication credits, which means you've to show up to fourteen events. Basically, in each one, you get a credit convocation events. There's, like a whole range of different things that you khun d'oh I don't know, Carmen, What combo did you go to on this morning? I went to your combo called meditation combo and basically way just hang out for about an hour. We meditate. We prayed together. It's really awesome. Pretty cool. Yep, There's a bunch of different ones. You could do so many different ones. I'm in a convent right now. It's a six week series. It's called emboldened, and it's based off a book for how to empower women in ministry positions. So it's super super cool. Yeah, there's also if you don't want to do those air called club conv o's and they go on for six weeks at a time. If you don't want to be involved in any of those. You, Khun Go, Tio, We call a regular combo, huh? It's down in the in the gyms every Wednesday morning. And they bring in really amazing speakers. Just come in and talk about a current issue or whatever they're feeling passionate about. Condos last anywhere from a half hour to an hour and you'll have to go to one a week. It's really not a problem. You can get it done pretty easily, Andi. Usually interesting. I like going. Yeah, me too.
