What's up, everybody? My name is Nick how you say them. He pronounced, and I'm so excited to come to you with a video about one of my favorite topics to talk about, and that is so so. Life here at the University of Vermont now socialite doesn't only exist on campus. UVM is so inextricably tied to the rest of the community that social life exists in all corners of Burlington. Now I want to start by talking about what's on. I want you want to know that in order to be well rounded socially in Vermont, it is my opinion, my perspective, that you got to get off campus sometimes. On campus there are so many opportunities for students to get involved socially, thanks to our friends in the Department of Student Life. For one they have on giving organizations, they oversee clubs, and they ensure that students aren't kept involved at active, even outside of the classroom, especially outside of the classroom. The Department of Student Life puts on outdoor programs, civic engagement opportunities, campus programs that keeps students not only stimulating their mind and their heart as well, but interacting with their peers, friends, co workers, all of the above on campus. It is such an amazing space for students to try something that they like to do, try something different and also develop interest that are already there as well. Fraternity and sorority life is also supervised and managed by our friends in the Department of Student Life. Around 8 to 9% of our students take part in fraternity and sorority life, or FSL in one of our on campus fraternities and sororities. So students involved in fraternity and sorority life are often engaging in our community with our community members and forming incredible bonds that way. The Student Government Association, in addition to being the on campus undergraduate governing body, has oversight over around 200 associated clubs and organizations. These are organizations and clubs to run by students for students surrounding areas like identity, culture, language, interest, academic area and so much more. By favorite club that I was a part of my first year was the Campus Kitchens project, the Campus kitchens project, now known as the Food Recovery Network, though outside of our official clubs and organizations, some of the most organic social bonding takes place in our residents halls. That's part of why you bm has a two year housing requirement toe live on campus. That way, students, when they get here, can meet each other for meaningful relationships that are going to last even beyond college, and build those relationships around areas that are of interest to them. Social life also takes place and manifest as a product of our academics at UVM, as well as students taking the same class will often link up, study together, do homework together and things like that. So that way they can perform successfully academically and also make a few friends in the process. Now, in addition to life on campus, socially hand making on the Redstone Green, taking walks around campus, grabbing food together in the dining hall, Burlington, Vermont, is thes spot to be, in my opinion, went in college because the social scene here in Burlington is second to none.
