Faculty Feature: Jonathan Harris and the $10K Design for the Stuck Bridge

Associate Professor of Engineering and Design Jonathan Harris has become a well-known professor and mentor at JWU over the last nine years, but he’s also established deep roots in the Providence community by looking at innovative ways to redesign some of the city’s urban landscape. Last month, he earned himself and a team from the Horsley Witten Group $10,000 and a first-place win in a design competition hosted by the City of Providence to reimagine the iconic Crook Point Bascule Bridge in Providence’s Fox Point neighborhood (you know, the stuck bridge that’s been immortalized on Frog & Toad t-shirts and postcards).
