I'm excited to give you guys just in overview of my academic experience, American Universities Co. God, School of business. Back in August of 2019, I went to American University straight from my undergraduate studies. I had graduated with a B A in international affairs in a business French minor back in May of 2019. So I had a few months after graduation to gather my belongings into move from a rural mountainous area of Virginia Thio Washington, D. C. While everybody in my M s and sustainability management program I au has to begin during the fall semester, you can graduate as soon as within three semesters so you could graduate after your fall spring, summer capstone and be done or like me. I'm graduating and four semesters, and I even have some friends who aren't going to graduate for after their fifth or sixth semester. There are four concentrations to choose from, but you can also create with approval from your academic advisor and the director. The four main ones are sustainability, executive sustainability, entrepreneur sustainability consultant and, lastly, sustainability policy and communications executive. So you have a lot of options and so many different classes you can choose from. Or like I said earlier, you can build your own type of concentration if that is the route that you believe will help you pursue your future career goals best. I've had the chance to actually apply what I've learned to really world projects such as my live consulting project, when I got to travel to Stockholm, Sweden, back in March of 2020 and I also had the opportunity to have a virtual client project with WWF World Wildlife Fund during my summer semester for my MSN sustainability management. Some are capstone of 2020 and I'm so gracious for the people I met throughout the entire process. I learned that virtual communication in business can still be just as effective and efficient as in person. Face to face Could be quarantine still relevant thio many locations around the world and in America. I believe that even though it's a different time, I have learned to be resilient in ways because all of my courses were moved online. I've had to learn to manage my time in different ways. I spend probably 2 to 3 hours everyday doing homework and studying in order to stay on top of my work off course if I have a paper or an exam or a group project or presentation coming up, I'm definitely spending Mawr hours of my day and night working on those assignments. I love scheduling office hours virtually with my professors, and the resource is, aren't there? You have professors, director's fellow peers. There are so many opportunities in Washington, D. C and outside of D. C. Ah, lot of the professor to co God have worked within the business industry for many years. Some of them still have their own business, and that is so essential to me. Toe learn and to know what to expect, but also how the business industry has been evolving and how much it's changed over time. This is perfect for networking, learning more about a specific industry for me. Teoh, a trusted professor or a director or even academic advisor, and you will get assistance in reaching those goals. What types of jobs do people within my cohort go for or receive all different types of industries, Whether it's government work, nonprofits and even the private sector? You have people from all types of backgrounds and from all over the world. I had two friends from Colombia to girls I worked on a project with. I also know people who are going to start their own businesses One day I hope to start my own business one day, but I want to get some really world experience first and get some leadership skills under my belt. Once I graduate in December of 2020 I have confidence that even though I've never worked a full time job in the business industry before, I believe that God has a prepared me and equip me with the necessary skills I need.
