Welcome to the Whitney!
The Whitney is a popular hangout for many NYU students, including me. Many museums in NYC ar free (or reduced price) for NYU students, but since the Whitney is just a 20 minute walk from campus, it’s a popular choice for friends to go on a weekend to get food in the cafe and then checkout the latest art exhibit (at the time of the video, the latest exhibit was Art & Protest, an exhibit on art and activism in the 20th century, very cool).
The following is an computer-generated summary of the video transcript.
So this is just part of the Whitney, and there's an outdoor Galleria swell. Since it's free for employees, students, a lot of what you kids like to come here and see the new galleries, the new artwork. It's only like fifteen, twenty minutes from campus. We're outside on or balcony part of the way you can see behind me. There's this really great few of the city the other way. If you look back a little bit farther, you can see the view of the river. So this's also where a lot of people like to come because you could take really great pictures for Instagram and things like that. Like I said earlier, you're getting it for free. So not only do you get to see really cool modern art pieces, you also really good Instagramming pictures that will make all of your friends jealous. Yeah, this is Whitney Kohler pieces here and also once a great views of the city.
