Hi, my name is Liz Lloyd and I've been at the University of Michigan for my entire medical career from medical school to pediatric residency, pediatric infectious diseases fellowship and now as faculty in the division of pediatric infectious diseases. So obviously I really love it here and I'm excited to share some of those reasons with you. First of all, I grew up in Ann Arbor so I know firsthand that it's a great place to live really through all stages of life. It's a great place for a young, single person. It's a great place to raise a family. It doesn't have the traffic and congestion of a much larger city, but because it's a college town, there's always events happening, there's always things going on their sports and shows and concerts and there is easy access to those bigger cities like Detroit and Chicago as far as living situation when I was a fellow, I lived in a condo on the outskirts of downtown Ann Arbor. It was about a five minute drive to and from the hospital, which I really appreciated back then. Um but once fellowship was over, I moved to Dexter, which is cute small town, it's about a 20 minute drive for me now to the hospital. But that was an easy trade off for me to make to have a nice big backyard for my dogs and my son to run around. Um and we have great access to the huron river and to many wonderful metro parks. So it's been a great move for us, but whatever you're looking for in a living situation, you'll be able to find it in or around Ann Arbor. The Ann Arbor area is also a great place to raise a family. As I mentioned, I have a young son and we have uh just countless activities to do year round even in the winter. Um Both outdoor activities, there's a multitude of parks, there's always family themed events, but there's also really great museums um and there's also tons of wonderful and interesting bars and restaurants to check out. Aside from loving Ann Arbor, I also had a great experience during my medical training as far as the infectious diseases fellowship. I felt like I was really well prepared to be a successful and independent attending physician um not just clinically but also in my area of interest which was antimicrobial stewardship as a fellow, I was able to really be involved with the antimicrobial stewardship team and even lead some of their projects which I think set me up for great success as an attending. Um More importantly though, I felt like the program and my mentor really looked out for me and we're truly invested in my success, not just academically or professionally but in my general life, so thank you for listening and we hope to see you in Ann Arbor!
