I'm really excited about what I'm working on right now. So our labs look at keratin is these are proteins that are in our cells. And usually the idea is that they make things stronger and more robust, like our hair. My project specifically looks at a keratin that comes up only when there's things like disease, inflammation, stress to the skin. And so I try to understand what it's doing in that context and that's a big part of what I work on specifically. I'm interested in for example how that keratin is involved in psoriasis. It's been a marker of psoriasis for many years but we don't actually know in the context of psoriasis, what is it doing there? And so I love getting that basic biology which is what excites me understanding what that protein does in the cell and then taking it to the disease aspect as well and understanding in what context is it coming up why. And then of course from there, I'm hoping that one day we'll be able to say, okay, can we treat or can we help people that have these diseases? Using that basic concept that I'm
