(Part 1) The first building I show is the International Studies Building, which is where students visit if they have interest in study abroad programs. This building is open all the time for anyone with that interest, and has personally impacted my student career in so many positive ways in terms of providing me LOTS of information about programs, as well as snacks at abroad fairs that they have occasionally :) The second building I mention is the White Hall Classroom Building (White Hall for short) which is where the majority of classes, whether it be lectures or recitations, are held for all subjects. I have had spanish lecture, chemistry and biology exams, chemistry recitation and math recitation classes held in this building, which goes to show how diverse and multi-purposeful it is.

In every major there will be stress from different classes, but Lindsay elaborates on the pre-med stress and requirements in her major as well as how to manage it with other activities. She also mentions how she chose UK and some of her favorite aspects of our campus, as well as how to find you "perfect fit" in regards to majors and minors.

Different dorm types

In this video, I talk about the different types of dorms that freshman can have, as well as what the most common dorms are and what most students do when it comes to housing each year. Usually, freshman live in the dorms, but some can choose to live in apartments, houses or anywhere they feel most comfortable. This also extends to upperclassmen, but it is most common that they will live in a dorm if they are an RA (residential advisor). Most commonly, upperclassmen either live in sorority or fraternity houses, off campus houses with other friends and on and off campus apartments.

While the partying culture can sometimes be a difficult or awkward subject to discuss, I think it is important to be honest and give incoming students a view of what it might be like. UK is a dry campus and is not a crazy, wild, insane partying school contrary to what some people may believe. It is mostly medium-sized hang outs and parties with friends rather than extreme raves and other scenes. Greek life parties are all off campus and always an option if you would like to go out. In addition, there are events that I included that happened during the week that I filmed this tour, which include Greek Sing at Memorial Coliseum and midnight pancakes. Greek Sing is a philanthropic (charity), campus-wide event that my sorority hosts where all sororities and fraternities compete with dances while also raising money for our philanthropy (Make-a-Wish Foundation). Midnight pancakes is an event that happens every Friday from 11pm to 2am, hosted by my church (CSF), where anyone can come to the church and have fellowship and unlimited free pancakes and snacks every Friday throughout the year.

In high school I was a very stressed out student trying to do everything right to get as many scholarships and acceptances from schools as possible, but what I would tell my senior-year self is that it is okay to enjoy your senior year. Don't focus too much on having the perfect GPA or being involved in every thing possible, simply enjoy your last school year with your friends and make memories that will last a lifetime! It is very strange to think that high school was just last year, but now I enjoy catching up with my friends that go to different universities and seeing how much they love their universities and exchanging stories; it is truly a special time and you should not take senior year and high school for granted. Also, when applying to UK, the two things that will help you the most (as well as applying to other schools) is a good GPA and good test scores. These will not only help you get into the university, but will also help you receive scholarships! Yay free money! Specific to Kentucky, it's important to be completely honest on the short answer essays in the application so that they can get a sense of who you truly are and your interests, as well as why you would like to come to UK. I wish you the best in the application process for all universities, and enjoy your senior year!
