Campus, friends, information, and behind the scenes from tharrius at ole miss

This video is incredible! A few things that we want to highlight. Notice how, even though Tharrius is using a smart phone to film his video, he structured his shot perfectly. He holds the phone horizontallu, keeps the camera steady, and most importantly positions himself perfectly within the shot to show off as much of the surroundings as possible, while remaining at the forefront of the video throughout. The video is fun, it's packed with useful informative, and Tharrius does a tremendous job both engaging with the community, and using the opportunity to communicate important information about the Ole Miss experience to all of his viewers!

Library tour from mikaila at emory university

This is EXACTLY what we are looking for in an academic building tour. Nobody loves looking around a library, but Mikaila manages to keep the video incredibly engaging and fun, all while communicating important information about the building, relating it to her overall experience on campus, and she even brings a friend along for the ride! Again, this is not a traditional campus tour, this is a CampusReel Tour! While we obviously want all the information and visuals one would expect on a traditional campus tour, it is much more important that prospective students feel as though they are on the inside of the student experience. There's no need to take these videos too seriously - they should be fun! So, in an academic building tour, you do not need to show every wall and table in the building; rather, highlight the important features of the building, run through the important information, talk about how it has affected your overall experience, and make sure you have fun all the while!

We did not tell Justine to capture the Big Red Marching Band, but she knew that prospective students would benefit from an inside look at the experience. Even better, she interviews a real live student in the band! Bonus points for high quality editing. Go Justine!

Please start this video at 1:00. We wanted to highlight this video for you all because we feel it's a great example of a video that takes viewers inside the student experience. Sara began the video by showing off the Arena Theater, but quickly recognized an opportunity to engage with her friends and peers on camera to give prospective students a better sense of the day-to-day experience as a Wheaton student.

Daily schedule from justine at ucla

Believe it or not, we did not tell Justine to make this video. We did not require students to breakdown their daily schedule when she created her tour, but she felt that it was important to communicate this information to her viewers. We thought that the video was such a great addition to the tour that we decided to include it in the task list! It's really important for your viewers to understand what it means to be a student on campus on a day-to-day basis, and your daily schedule is a great representation of the experience. Feel free to communicate the information however you'd like in your own tour!

We absolutely LOVE this introduction from Sheila! She gets her viewers excited for her tour, while also sharing a piece of Texas A&M's culture in the video. She is energetic, engaging and welcoming, as she shares some important information about herself. And most importantly, she let's her viewers know that she'll be their friend and mentor for the remainder of the tour!

This is another great example of taking ownership of a campus tour. We did not ask Jelani to make a video about the difference between quizzes, midterms and finals; however, he thought critically about the information that he wish he knew when he was a prospective student, and made a video to help the next generation have a better understanding of what to expect once they get to campus. Incredible!

A conversation with a chinese international student from lily at amherst college

You certainly do not need to watch all of this video, unless you want to of course! We wanted to show you all a great example of how to structure a student interview. We want these videos to be much more of a conversation than an interview, and Lily does a great job to that end. We love how she structures the shot so both she and Hui are in frame, rather than Lily pointing a camera at Hui and asking questions. Most importantly; however, we love how Lily has a real agenda with this conversation, and something that she wants to communicate to prospective students. She doesn't just read off the questions from the task list. She chose to speak with Hui to learn about an international student's perspective on campus because she felt it would be useful for incoming international students - and she was right!
